No-heat calls jump the line — same day, seven days a week.
High-efficiency systems sized and combustion-tuned for 6,000 ft.
Warm air blowing? Most fixes are a part on the truck.
Right-sized cooling — quotes in writing, installed in a day.
Cold-climate heat pumps that actually work here.
Spring start-ups, pad changes, winterization — we still love 'em.
Whole-home humidity for the driest winters in the country.
Tank and tankless — repair today, replace when it's truly time.
The maintenance plan
One before the first freeze, one before the first 90° — because Colorado Springs is a two-season town. Manufacturer warranties require documented annual maintenance; we do the documenting.

The way we work
No-heat and no-cool calls jump the line. Call before noon and we’re usually there today.
Shoe covers on, drop cloths down, and the same faces year after year.
Every furnace we touch gets derated and combustion-tuned for 6,000+ feet. Factory settings assume sea level — the Springs isn’t.
The number comes before the work, in writing. 100% satisfaction guarantee behind it.
Reviews

Furnace quit on the first cold night of the season up in Briargate. They had a tech out by 2pm, found a cracked igniter, and the price matched the number Dana gave on the phone. Heat back before the kids got home.
Tune-up done, filter swapped, no upsell. That's it. That's the review.
New furnace and AC in our Rockrimmon place. Rich walked us through three quotes — good, better, best — with real numbers, and never once pushed the expensive one. Install crew had it done in a day, hauled everything away, and the city inspection passed first visit. The altitude tuning thing is real: our old furnace always smelled a little on startup and the new one just... doesn't.
Swamp cooler start-up took two visits — the first tech didn't have the right pads on the truck. They came back next morning, no extra charge, and threw in the winterization for the trouble. Would've been 5 stars with the pads on board.
Response from the ownerFair call, Craig — we now stock every pad size on all six trucks from April through June. Thanks for letting us make it right. — Rich
Whole-home humidifier installed in Old Colorado City. We were waking up with nosebleeds every January. House sits at 35% now and the hardwoods stopped gapping. Should have done it years ago.
AC died during the July heat wave out in Falcon. Same-day visit, condenser fan motor on the truck, cold air by dinner. The Two-Season Club paid for itself right there — no weekend surcharge.
Financing
New systems from about $109/month, with 18-months-no-interest options on approved credit through approved lenders. You’ll see real numbers — monthly and total — before you decide anything.

Where we work
From Monument to Fountain and up Ute Pass to Woodland Park — if your furnace works harder at altitude, you’re in our territory.
In the Springs itself you’ll see us most in Briargate, Rockrimmon, Old Colorado City, Broadmoor, Northgate, Stetson Hills, the Powers corridor — anywhere the houses predate their furnaces.
Just outside the area? Call anyway — if we can’t come, we’ll tell you who we’d send instead.

The family
Rich Kessler’s father kept the boilers running at the old Ent Air Force Base. Rich grew up handing him wrenches, founded Switchback in 2009, and now his son Eli is the third Kessler with cold hands every January. When we say we know what a Front Range winter does to a furnace — that’s not marketing, that’s the family memory.

Most of our installs land between $4,800 and $9,500 — efficiency tier, size, and venting move the number. A new AC typically runs $4,500–$8,900. You'll get real good-better-best numbers in writing before anything is decided, and financing from $109/month if you want it.
At 6,000+ feet the air is about 20% thinner, so furnaces burn rich unless they're derated and tuned for altitude. Factory settings assume sea level. An untuned furnace runs less efficiently, soots up faster, and can shorten heat-exchanger life — it's the most Colorado Springs maintenance item there is, and it's part of every tune-up we do.
Two honest reasons: most breakdowns we see in January are preventable in October, and nearly every manufacturer's warranty requires documented annual maintenance to stay valid. We do the documenting — every Club visit produces a written record you can hand to a warranty claim.
Proudly. Spring start-ups, pad changes, float valves, winterization — half the older homes west of I-25 still run them, they cost pennies to operate in our dry air, and we're not going to talk you into ripping out a system that works.
